There are many amusing or just plain odd street names, particularly in the South that I've often wondered the thought process that went on behind picking street names. I'm sure if I went out of my way to look I could find plenty more and much odder ones, but here's a few that I've come across just through my regular work process:
BATCAVE ROAD
SAN ANTONIO, TX
HOG JOWL RD.
CHICKAMAUGA, GA
TUNY OIL ROAD
LEAKESVILLE, MS
ROACH ROAD
ENNIS, TX
NOPAJOPE LN
BREWTON, AL
RIP VAN WINKLE
PEARLAND , TX
SILLEY DEAN ROAD
PINSON, AL
STYX RIVER ROAD
STAPLETON, AL
FERTILIZER RD.
DONALSONVILLE, GA
BARF KNEIGHT LN
LEWISVILLE, TX
NUTTY BROWN ROAD
DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX
LICK SKILLET RD.
HAMILTON, GA
FIDDELSTICKS BLVD.
FT METERS, FL
Some like Batcave Rd you can pretty much figure it out - either there is a cave with lots of bats there or lots of Batman fans. I'm hoping they named it after Batman's cave 'cause that would be ultimately cooler. But Nopajope or Lick Skillet? Were the city planners smoking dope when they named them?
